Impact

Getting hit by a car actually saved my life.  It was December 1991.  I woke early, anticipating a day of sadness tinged with moments of longing, joy and the knowing that all was as it should be.  It was the day of my Grandmother Emily’s funeral.  After several years of slow decline, she had finally crossed over at the age of 92.

As I awoke, I had a strange vision of myself and my husband walking on a snowy sidewalk and being hit from behind by a car.  I remember asking myself  “how can we possibly get hit if we’re walking on the sidewalk?”

That is precisely what happened, that very evening at 10:10 pm. (more…)

Memories of our Grandmothers

‘Every woman should own a red coat’ or ‘Eat just a bowl of cherries as a meal once in a while’ or ‘Sleeping directly on the floor helps keep my back strong’…all advice from my grandmother.  In addition to giving me her legacy of concern for healthy eating and wellbeing, my grandmother Emily was full of advice on all areas of life.

When I started my business, I decided to ask others what words of wisdom they remembered from their grandmothers.  Almost all were glad to take a moment to recount a poignant moment and to share a memory.  Enjoy… (more…)
