My Italian Coffeepot

My new italian coffeepot has taught me a good lesson.  For the first couple of months, the coffee was horrible.  Strong, bitter, stomach numbing.  I tried different blends, different size of grinding, but I just kept making a bitter brew.  Too strong, too strong, too strong.  I began to think maybe I just couldn’t make a good cup of coffee.  I’m just that way.

Last week, the thought of another lousy coffee stirred up a rebellion.  Enough!  It was time to get radical.  I decided to reduce the amount of coffee I put in the coffeemaker even though my logic had been telling me that the container was there to be filled.  From the Latin word ‘logica’ meaning the art of reason, my own reasoning mind had locked me in.  It was time for Reason Override.  Why would the place for the coffee grains be so large if it wasn’t meant to be filled?  Right?  Wrong.
